First meeting writing meme

So I was operating on four hours sleep, the best time for ideas. When I thought to myself about how characters meet and forge relationships. Sometimes the meeting is formality, sometimes it's the start of awesome, or really embarrassing. Sometimes you forget you even met them and do introductions over again (sup Soka!).

I needed something to get me back into the random jumping others niche. Anyway, so I figured on a prompt. Give me one of your characters who hasn't met one of mine, and I'll write out a possible first meeting between them. Or if we totally forgot their first meeting and think it would be a funny revisitation. I'm easy like that.

Most of yours have met mine already -- maybe Giles and Lisa?

Giles abhored being in hospitals. It wasn't that he disliked them personally, he respected the institutions and what they stood for. But whenever he was in one it meant, at best, serious injuries, and at worse, a last chance to say goodbye before death.

He was, however, completely at a loss for how to handle this visitation. There were no wounds to tend, no bodies to guard, just simply...support was asked for him. And he really couldn't tell you if that made it better or worse.

A nurse with a red sweater came and handed him a ceramic coffee cup. "Dr. Tam asked me to give this to you."

"Ah, my thanks," Giles murmured and took it. Downing the whole thing in two scorching gulps. When he noticed the look she was giving him. One that would have meant a raised eyebrow and small headshake if she wasn't so used to the behavior, well, he took it as almost British.

"It's a quick examination," she said kindly. "And these doctors are the best I've worked with--" her smile curved down a little and her eyes flickered past him before coming back. "But I know how sometimes this place can be a little...unnerving."

"Pardon me, coffee tends to set me on edge." Realizing he had also neglected his manners he stood to introduce himself. "I'm Rupert Giles."

"Buffy told me on the way in. It's nice that you're watching out for her." Again the sad smile. "I'm Lisa Garland."

"I haven't seen you around much."

"I don't...leave the hospital. Much."

"Ah, that would explain things. I myself don't venture out of the library I suppose. My, are you bleeding?" Giles commented, as a small trickle of blood curved down Lisa's temple and sickled down to her neck.

"Oh dear," she said, touching it self-consciously. "I didn't expect--"

A bit of fumbling at Giles pulled out his handkerchief to offer. "Here, take this."

"Thank you," Lisa said, averting her gaze while she dabbed. "As you see, I...really can't go out much."

"It's quite all right. I'm somewhat accustomed to...that."

There was a small moment of not horribly awkward silence when Dr. Tam poked his head out of the examination room's double doors. "I'm sorry, the results were positive. Or should I say congratulations?"

"What do you mean, Dr. Tam?" Lisa asked.

"Well, Kon tested positive in the pregnancy test. But! The, ah, good news is we've discovered the genetic donor wasn't the lake monster. Buffy's the biological father."

"Oh, well, how strange," Lisa said pleasantly. "But at least...oh! Mr. Giles you're bleeding!"

"Oh, am I?" he asked, wiping his hands where the cup had shattered. "How careless of me."

"Would you like your handkerchief back, Mr. Giles?"

"It's all right, I've another."

"Aspirin?"

"That would be most welcome."

That's pretty damn awesome. Thank you!
