Happy icons:
Bart is normally happy and/or confused, so these tend to be his introduction icons. The earnest one is when he wants to be helpful, and is in people's personal space. The one with his arms up mean he's in the process of explaining or simply getting carried away in the conversation. Depending on which keywords you get (either "friendly" or "trust me") the third is the default friendly icon and Bart is simply having fun, or trying to reassure people. Happy means you caught him in a really good mood or cheered him up and he looks up to you for that. The last one is his special icon, where he's content and the world is good. Either he's talking about home and people he loves, or he considers you family/someone he cares a lot about (Cabin 10 and/or his teammate family).
Confused icons:
Neutral/uneasy icons:
First one is when Bart is barging in on a thread, not always accusing but not exactly happy. "Over your shoulder" is either he's distracted or he's a little weary from his normal hyper. The third is when someone says something that hits him and makes him want to respond like a four year old (most often used about moral issues) or he feels out of his depth. "Ask a stupid question" is a confused icon, but now mainly ends up being used for the pose, when he feels sulky and pushed away. The ADD one is either Bart talking about studying/training, or it's the icon he uses when he wants to use his distracted personality as an excuse to not face the problems at hand. Next his default worried/uneasy icon. Last one is his action icon, where he is either running off because of some duty or the conversation has turned really sour and Bart's impulse is to leave.
Concentration icons:
Secret icons:
First one is like the dunce icon, Bart thinks he spilled the beans about something important. The second is his default "saying something aside" icon when he's talking to people. The third is the teammate secret one, so either he's talking about how close he is to his teammates, or this is really important information. He only uses it out of context with people he trusts a lot. Last one is a mischief icon, he's thinking about pranks or keeping information to tease people about.
Icons that reference people:
Angst icons:
First is least often used, but Bart is thinking/talking about his scout's death. He's being morbid or thinks his friendship with Kon is jeopardy. Second is the empathy icon, Bart understands the person he's talking to is in pain and feels he can't fix it but is trying to be there for them. "Underestimated again" is exactly how it sounds, Bart feels like nobody is taking him seriously/shutting him out/pushing him away. The next one is used either when Bart finished a fight and is literally beat up, or he's talking about his failures. "Mentorless" is his catch-all angst icon. Bart feels put out or he's thinking of how alone he feels. When used in response to another angst icon (Buffy's "angsting on the roof", Kon's "regret" or even Xander's "music of pain") he's physically acting out the position near them. The brooding icon is used when somebody he cares about is hurt or he's questioning reality since the scene from that icon is when he loses Dox in his VR world. The last one is Bart's undefined icon. It's been used in reference to his mom, when serious revelations occur, or when he just feels like he can't explain himself. Something is "up" but chances are it won't untangle easily.
